Common questions

How do I see my podcasts on another TV?

On your first TV, open Settings to see your five-word passphrase. On the other TV (any brand), open PodPlayer TV, go to Settings, choose Sign in with a passphrase, and type the words. The first three letters of each word are enough.

How do I bring my podcasts from another app?

In your old app, export your subscriptions as an OPML file (look for Export or OPML in its settings). On your TV, open Settings and choose Import podcasts from another app. Scan the QR code or go to podplayertv.com/import, enter the code, choose the file and send it. Your TV then asks whether to add the new shows to your list or replace your list.

I lost my passphrase. Can you recover it?

If any TV is still signed in, its Settings screen shows the passphrase, and "Save passphrase to your phone" gives you a QR code to keep it. If no TV has it, it can't be recovered. Your list is encrypted with it, so not even we can read or reset it. You'll need to start a new list.

A podcast or episode won't play.

Episodes stream straight from each podcast's own servers, so sometimes the publisher's server is down or the file has moved. Try another episode or try again later. If a show never plays, use the form below and include the show's name.

How do chapters, transcripts and live shows work?

They come from the podcast itself through Podcasting 2.0 tags. If a show doesn't publish chapters or transcripts, those buttons won't appear. Live shows are listed under Live Now while they're on air.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings and choose Delete my account. Your encrypted list is removed and every TV is signed out. If you no longer have the app, see Delete your account and data.

How do I sort lists or find a category?

My Podcasts, Categories, Trending, Live Now and search results have a Sort button at the top right. Press Up from the top row to reach it. In Categories, Find... lets you type or say part of a category's name.

How do I find an older episode?

On a podcast's page, use Find episode... to search by title or episode number, Pick a date to choose a year, month and day that has episodes, or Sort to switch between newest and oldest first.

How does the queue work?

Press OK on an episode and choose Play next or Add to queue. When an episode ends, the next one in the queue starts. Open Queue from the Home menu to play, move or remove entries, or to clear the queue. The queue is kept on each TV and isn't synced.

Can I keep listening while I browse?

Yes. Press Back on Now Playing and audio keeps playing, with a now-playing bar at the bottom of the screen. Play/Pause, Rewind and Fast-forward control it from other screens, and Now Playing in the Home menu takes you back. Video stops when you leave it. To have audio stop too, change Leaving Now Playing in Settings.

Can Rewind and Fast-forward skip chapters?

In Settings, set Rewind / Fast-forward to Chapters to jump between chapters (and on to the previous or next episode in your queue), or to Queue to move between queue episodes.
